HUBS Pre-incubator is the place to develop your business idea in a sustainable way! Our 8-week program combines the methods of team learning, purposeful development of team working skills alongside the traditional business development.
Participating in this pre-incubator will also earn you 5 credits so it will help you forward with your studies too.
I did not know what to expect from the course and I was very pleasantly surprised. I felt safe to speak up about my thoughts and it was an awesome experience to see my concept flourish. I learned how to work on and articulate the details in a professional way, frame it to the market and ready it for further development.
The highlight of the course is how everyone is available to bounce around ideas. It is amazing how that clarifies things and makes the vision take shape.

Support and sparring towards entrepreneurship
HUBS Pre-incubator is an 8-week program that supports you in taking the first steps towards entrepreneurship. You will get tools for refining and conceptualizing your business idea. Pre-incubator also offers you insights on how to build a successful team. Join us and develop your business idea to the next level – together with the team and coaches!
Network with partners
We work closely with our partners and Tampere startup ecosystem (e.g. Tribe, Red Brick Accelerator) and you will get introduced to the local operators and teams. We have several visiting experts and real-life cases from experienced entrepreneurs which will definitely inspire you!
The students and the coach tailor the exact content based on team-specific / individual needs. The course includes mandatory lessons on Lean Startup methodology and business development. In addition, teams are instructed to read articles, literature, and study other online materials on relevant entrepreneurial themes. The knowledge gained is applied to practice with various validations, evaluations, and business planning templates.
Training sessions
Each group has training sessions, where business idea development topics are handled in dialogue. The students / teams get to share their progress, ask for peer advice and receive coaching. Coaches, team colleagues, and a personal working life mentor support the business idea development process along the way. The student will draw a study plan and report the results in a separately agreed manner (goals, outcomes and reflection of the learning process documented).
After the course, you:
- can apply The Lean Startup development tools in enhancing a business idea
- can apply value creation logic for developing your business idea
- understand the principles of sustainable business and can apply these
- have the ability to work constructively and responsibly in a multidisciplinary team
- have the ability to lead a team, yourself and develop solutions
- be able to independently develop your own and your team’s competencies
- be able to work systematically and consistently under pressure
- have developed your presentation and sales skills and your ability to pitch your business ideas.
Building a portfolio
As a learning outcome of the course, the student (or team) produces a portfolio that includes various sub-plans and reflections related to crystallizing the business idea, business planning, and customer-centric experiments. The tools and templates used in the portfolio are defined separately at the beginning of the course. At the end of the course, the student (or team) presents or “pitches” their preliminary business idea to the rest of the group and visiting judges.
During the course 18.9.-13.11.2024 we’ll have sessions together with all students, teams, and coaches on Wednesdays from 12.15 to 16.00 on TAMK Kauppi campus, in HUBS premises, Startup-luola (C1-25).
In addition to weekly group meetings, individual/team-specific mentor meetings 2-4 times during the study period.
Please note! No session on 16.10.
